I've been pretty absent this week, I know. But I have a good reason.
Monday, my bro-in-law arrived at our house with his friend from Utah. They drove the Uhaul truck all the way across the country in two days. The friend flew back home, but Ben stayed with us that night. Tuesday afternoon, his wife Sara, their three kids, and her mother flew in. We thought it was silly for them to stay at a hotel since we have a perfectly good house right here. So they've been camping out at our house all week. Sara's mom went back home yesterday, and I know she's already missed. She was absolutely delightful. She's so sweet and friendly. Very easy to get along with. Until she left, the majority of the family camped out in our livingroom. Brad made a cool bed out of sheets and couch cushions. Poor little Ryan (he's 2 months older than Noah) had to sleep in the kitchen in Noah's Pack n Play.
Brad and I have made a discovery this week: Noah isn't a normal baby.
Ryan is just a cute little mess. He's busy and constantly on-the-go. He's into everything. He's all boy. He throws stuff, runs places, and has a short attention span. If his older brother is playing with something he wants, he pushes him out of the way and takes it. He's a survivor baby. He's figured out the system. lol. He's absolutely adorable, and it's hysterical to watch him. He still has his "baby moments" when he just wants mommy/daddy to cuddle him, but for the most part, he's a very busy little man.
And then there's Noah.
He's my little wallflower. He just sat and watched his cousins, totally enthralled/apprehensive about the whole situation. He sits quietly and looks at books. If I need to run to the potty, he's good to stay and play with whatever toy he has for a minute. Just watching his cousins wore him out easily.
He's such an only child.
They were able to move into their house today. Once Brad gets home from work, we'll be heading that way too. I haven't seen their house yet, so I'm excited for that. Yall be praying for Sara and the kids, especially little Abby, who is the oldest. She starts school here before too long and needs to make good friends. It's all going to be a big adjustment for them. Not for Ben, as much. He's totally in his element. He's moved back home and seems to be perfectly happy. The rest of the family is still trying to get used to walking outside and not seeing a huge mountain in the distance.

He is normal just normal for an only child who is not used to constant action
Hate to mess with your theory, but it isn't just an only child thing. All of my kids were like that and they still are to a certain extent. My 12-year-old son DJ, who is the 4th child, is always the one that other boys' parents comment on. "He's so quiet!" or "We barely knew he was here!" Trust me, he doesn't seem that quiet to us when he is at home. With other kids, however, he and his sisters are content to sit back for a little while and suss out the situation rather than jump into the fray. The good thing about this trait is that they have time to figure out who the troublemakers are and stay away from them!
