Milestones

My baby is two weeks old today!!

It actually feels like it's been longer than 2 weeks, but only because he's grown so much. His little face is filling out (the cheeks are starting to take over!), and he's getting a little belly now. He had a doctor's visit today, and he weighs 8 lb 5 oz. We think he's hit a growth spurt, because he seems to eat so much! He's a sweet little guy, except when he gets fussy every now and then. He's very content with life so far. :) Anyway, our doctor said he's perfectly healthy. The only thing we have to do is get a Vitamin D supplement for him, just because babies don't get alot of it when they're this little. I'm thinking about just taking him out in the sun more instead. We'll see. His umbilical cord fell off too, so we get to try out our new bathtub soon!

He had a big day today. Not only did he go see the doctor, we also went to the JB office so he could meet everyone there. They're so sweet. They have literally showered me with gifts and attention throughout this whole thing. I really didn't expect anything else, but it turns out they got us MORE stuff! We got Pooh books, a Baby Einstein cd, a book for me, and cute little pj's. They seriously do way too much for me. Clark and Sarah (my bosses) are back from Martha's Vineyard too, so they got to meet him as well. It was so great to see all of them. It's been weird not seeing them everyday.

After that, we visited my mom, and she and Madison got to hold him for a little while. Then we finally headed home and he was worn out. Hopefully, we'll be able to get him on a better sleep schedule soon. He's been waking up way too early for me. :)

I know it's cliche, but I really don't know how I lived without our little sweetie before now. He's such a cutie. All we do is stare at him and hold him. We're a little sleep deprived, but it's definitely worth it.

My son had to have vitamin D supplements, too. It was a combination of him being breastfed (not a lot of vitamin D in breast milk) and him being born in the middle of a heat wave (couldn't go out for sunshine). 1998 was a weird weather year, too; it went from 100-degree weather to 50-degree weather in a snap. My boy didn't get any outdoor time until he was almost a year old!

We did Vitamin D for a while for Jeremy then we forgot. With Daniel we just did the outside thing too. Perfect time of year! Getting cooler. Nice to see Noah outside the other day with Brad. Such a proud Papa!
