Everyone be praying for Brad. After a lot of thinking and prayer, he's decided it's time to start looking for a new job. Actually, I might have been that deciding factor. Last week, he came home from work looking extra pale and exhausted. Most of you know that Brad has a congenital heart problem, and physically, he just can't handle his job anymore.
It doesn't help that his new boss is kind of a jerk to him. She seems to be a workaholic. Her husband also works for Target and they have no children, so their whole lives revolve around Target. Brad had a sit-down with her a couple of weeks ago. He told her he feels like she doesn't show a good example of the work-life balance that Target prides itself on. She expects him to work 12, 13, 14, 15 hour days. If he's worked 10 hours and is leaving, she looks at him like he's a slacker. Like I said, physically, he just shouldn't be doing that.
He's also scheduled to work Christmas night. What kind of boss schedules you to work on Christmas, knowing you just had your first baby and would like to spend it with family.
He realized he doesn't want to become a store manager for Target. He's watched other store managers, and they don't seem to have time for their families (most don't have kids). Brad doesn't want to look back 10 years from now and just see Target. He wants to be there for Noah and me.
So there you have it. I don't post his schedule on the internet for safety reasons, but most of you know it's not good. If he's not planning on moving up, there's just no reason to continue with it.
Target has been very good to us, but it's time to move on.

We've gone through this situation more than once. It is especially tough for guys, I think, because people still don't expect them to be concerned about the family thing. ABM has always managed to step into a better job or at least a job suited our situation at the time. I'm sure that will be the case for Brad.
