I got my very first blog award!! My friend Jess (who, btw, is in labor as I write this. she cracks me up. she keeps FB-ing while giving birth) gave me this, and apparently, it comes with a few rules. I have to write 10 things about myself that you don't already know and also give it to a few of my friends. We'll see how this goes...
1. I'm a sucker for 80's movies. I just think they're so clever. I love the grittiness to the films, where it's not all HD'd out. They're typically not that flashy (technogolically speaking; the clothes and makeup are a whole other story). The storylines are fun and simple. Molly Ringwald is awesome.
2. I went to a tiny, private, Christian school most of my life (3 years old to 12th grade). I loved it. It wasn't without its issues and drama, but it helped make me who I am today. I may be a tad more "naiive" to some, but I think I'm a pretty solid person. I know who I am, where I stand, and I'm all the better for it.
3. I'm addicted to chocolate. Dark chocolate Godiva truffles are my favorite. Yum.
4. I LOVE cooking for people. Big meals are so fun for me. It may stress me out a tad, but the actual baking part makes me happy. I told Brad that it'll be fabulous when Noah is a teenager. He'll give me a reason to cook tons of food without it going to waste.
5. I'm a total nerd. I like to learn. I love reading, writing, and math. Other cultures and religions fascinate me. I like watching people interact. Must be why I majored in Sociology. I wasn't planning on being a career woman, anyway, so I decided to major in something I loved. Such a mature decision. HA. Good thing it worked out for me.
6. I can water ski; slolem, no less. I haven't done it in forever, since my grandparents sold their place at the lake (plus, have you ever tried skiing on a weekend in Lake Norman?? suicide). But still. I gotta brag about myself a little on this thing, right?
7. I want to own a HUGE amount of land someday, so that I can rescue animals. I want to save all the puppies and kitties that nobody wants. I want horses, so I can ride again. I even want chickens and sheep. It's expensive. I might need to think about getting a job eventually...
8. There are a lot of people I admire in this world (soldiers, cancer survivors, etc), however, I have the utmost respect and adoration for those that work in the NICU (shout out to our buddy, Jim). While I do agree that God immediately welcomes those little ones that don't make it, I still can't imagine handling the tiny, precious, fighting-for-their-lives babies everyday, not knowing for sure if they'll survive. The people that are strong enough to work there are amazing to me.
10. I have several goals for the immediate future. I want to learn photography, how to sew, and to play the guitar. We'll see how long it takes for me to accomplish these things.
And now I shall give this award to.....
Anna
Timon
Dani
9. My favorite color is green. It used to be purple when I was a kid, and while I still love the color, green somehow became my favorite. I must be surrounded in it. Trees, grass, plants, my walls... don't know when it happened, but it makes me happy.

Hey...You'll have to come out on my parents boat this summer! I want to see you ski!
(already scared to be in a bathingsuit...) And you'll have to come over and swim in our neighborhood pool! I can't wait to take Brin in the pool!
I love 80's movies too!! I can water ski but only on 2. I keep forgetting to send you my work email when I'm no FB
how did you incorporate the links to other blogs with just one word? I have always wanted to do that but can't figure it out. ALso, I will be working on my list:) Thanks for tagging me:)
Meagan: definitely! Hopefully, I won't make a total idiot out of myself. Bathing suits are scary. You're giving me motivation to keep up the workouts!
Anna: If you go under Settings and scroll down to the Editor selection, click on the Updated Editor. Next time you go to write, it'll have a Link icon. Click on that, and it'll give you the option of what title to put the link under. Sorry, I'm not good at exlaining things. Hope that makes sense.
Honestly, I don't know how Jim does it. He has his good days and bad... he gets very personally attached and tries to pick up the babies that he can "save" the ones that are really hard and difficult and have the least likely hood to survive. Consequently he has a lot of awesome success stories and some terrible ones too.
Now Skiing... we'll have to go sometime and you'll have to help me to learn. I can wakeboard better than skiing, I suck at skiing, but I'm not exactly amazing at wakeboarding either. BUT, I can stay up with a wakeboard for more than 5 seconds, haha!
Am just now getting around to catching up...and just saw this. I am now laughing at myself. Because really. Who does that many FB updates while in labor?
Granted, 17 hours of it overnight with only a grumpy husband and a Blackberry for company may have something to do with it. :)
