water water everywhere

Our Memorial Day weekend was really, well... wet.

Unfortunately, our neighborhood doesn't have a community pool, for some reason. There's a perfectly good plot of land just waiting for one, but as of right now (and the last 10 years), we don't have one.
So we just have to make do and enjoy my little sister's hand-me-down plastic kiddie pool. Noah actually thinks it's great. I set his water table in it, and it has a very small slide that he likes to play on.

 

We also tried out a new park with a splash pad on Friday. It turned out to be a tad further from us than I'd hoped, so I doubt we'll go again anytime soon. But it's a great little spot.
The thing is... Noah's very much a wallflower when it comes to things like this. It's not that he's shy. It's that he doesn't trust the big kids that are playing around him (smart kid). So he just hangs out on the edges. :)

Saturday, my little sister came over for the night while my parents went to our cousin's wedding in SC. Her exams are this week, so she spent a big chunk of her time studying. But that night, we headed out to one of our favorite spots for a picnic.
They have a massive fountain in the middle of the mall that we like to take Noah to in the summer. And just like the other spraygrounds, Noah chose to hang out on the edges at first.

It wasn't until the sun set and the crowds cleared out that Noah decided to take the plunge.

This splash pad had water that would shoot out in spurts, gradually making its way around the circle. Noah would find a spot and stand in it, waiting for it to hit him. :)

The only issue we had was trying to keep Noah from mugging people for their ice cream. There's an ice cream place nearby, and the fountain is a popular spot to stop and eat it. Unfortunately, Noah doesn't quite understand that not everyone wants to share theirs with him. When he went to check out this little girl's bowl, she looked completely freaked. haha.
But no worries. We eventually got him his own.

It ended up being a perfect night out, and Noah had so much fun, we didn't leave until 10:30.

We did other stuff too, though, besides spending our weekend in the water.

We went for family walks and had ourselves a little cookout. Which by the way, I've been vegetarian for about two weeks now. So when I had a hot dog for the first time in forever? Um, yeah. Totally paid for it. Ugh. No more.
