Life is obviously tough on everyone at times. I've had my share of rough moments, where all I wanted to do is crawl in a corner and cry.
Recently, I've had several friends who have been going through some seriously major issues. What's different in their case is that it's not really them... it's their babies.
One of them has a newborn who started having seizures. For more on her story, visit my friend Jess's blog. Then they thought she was going to either lose all or some of her vision. Praise God that wasn't the case!
My other friend has had a similar situation. Her baby began having seizures as well, and they were eventually able to control them better. However, her health has gotten worse, and she was recently diagnosed with Muscular Distrophy. They also have found a small lump near her chest, but they aren't going to scan it (for fear of triggering seizures and other problems). All of this in a little baby girl.
Being a Christian pretty much my entire life, I've never doubted or not known where to go for help. Growing up, anytime anyone had a health issue or family matter, it was second nature to pray. Now that I'm grown up, with a baby of my own, these people's stories hit a little too close to home.
I have a sweet, beautiful baby boy whose only problem is that he's a little cranky from teething. If he pinches his fingers, I want to cry with him. How these mothers must be feeling is beyond my comprehension. All I can do is offer encouragement in that God really does have a plan for these children. I know it doesn't take any of the hurt or anger or doubt away, but if it's any consolation, your children have already touched many, many people. The Lord made these babies and His love for them is matchless.
My friend, Lori, left one of my favorite scriptures on our friend's Caring Bridge guestbook, and I thought I'd share it on here too:
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:28-31
Our friend also left this on her baby's journal:
"I have been telling all my friends lately, and I ask you to do this tonight as well. Go hug your children a little bit tighter tonight or if you don't have children go hug your spouse a little bit tighter tonight and tell them how much you love them and how you will do your very best to never take them for granted. Live life everyday like it is your last. Enjoy your children more tomorrow. Play with them harder and leave the house work for another day. That is something that will never go away but something happening with your child or loved one can."
Please join with me (and lots of others) in praying for these special babies. I know their families appreciate it, and it's always fun to watch God perform miracles.

With Jess I feel like I know her through her writing and with Abby I was her tutor when she was in the 4th grade and I was at her wedding. I've known her almost her whole life. These baby girls are so precious and it does hit so close to home. I've been praying and I know we don't know why but we also know that God is bigger! I can't imagine what they're going through but my heart goes out to them!
Wow those stories are heartbreaking! I feel the same as you. My heart breaks for them and I hate seeing Brinley cry more than just a few minutes. I can't imagine that. I know that God lives and loves us. I know that each of us has a plan on this earth and we will be taken care of. God is perfect. I will never doubt His existance. I'm praying for those families!
:)
Thanks girlie...I'll take the prayers.
