I don't go too crazy for each occasion. I'm very selective about my seasonal stuff. I tend to stick to the $5 rule, for the most part. If it's over $5, and it's not for Christmas (because, Christmas is like the grand finale of holidays... you go all out for that one), then I'll get it.
I found the cutest, tiny ceramic vases in the dollar section at Target. I'm pretty sure they're my favorite purchase lately (other than my orchid I've been dying to have for the last 3 years). They were $2.50, and totally worth it. I stuck them on my mantle, and I plan to keep them there after Valentine's Day.
Ok, so this isn't the best photography job I've ever done (and almost no editing), but this was just so I could show you the wreath I made (and totally in love with).
It's still a work in progress. I need something tall to balance it out. But oh well.
I love these. And I know, I'm committing a major decorating sin... using fake flowers. But I can't afford fresh ones constantly. Maybe when my garden starts to bloom some. Until then? These are gonna have to do.
Brad and I never do much for Valentine's Day. It's not that we're total VDay scrooges and don't like celebrating a "day of love", but it's just a tad overrated, in my opinion. Not just because we should obviously show that we kinda like eachother year round. But really, have you ever tried to go out on Valentine's Day? It's ridiculous. Too many people, too much noise, and usually the restaurants have a "special love menu" that you can only order off of and is totally overpriced. I'd much rather get a Chinese takeout, sit on my fanny, and watch The Bachelor (why oh why did I ever get sucked back into that stupid, stupid show??? And fyi, I think Michelle looks like an angry Maltese when she smiles. Ok done).
I think the plan for tonight is to have a "date" (is it considered a date when there are three of you?) to Panera (I may splurge and get the $.99 scone/muffin/cinnamon bun) and then go window shop at the mall. I'm not sure how many windows we'll actually get to look at, since Noah spends most of his time running around looking for the nearest escalator. Those are his favorite.
Today is absolutely beautiful outside. I think the high for today is 72. Which makes this stuffy-nosed mama very happy (Noah decided to share his cold with me). I will definitely be planting something today.
I love looking at decorating ideas (as if you weren't aware).

LOOOOVE Noah's shirt!!! So cute!!! Ya, Ryan and I definitely don't do the big gift giving stuff for v-day. We are just cards, maybe flowers, and of course, RYan cooks me dinner. I just laugh at those people who go OVERBOARD.
Like, this one couple I know. her husband gave her a new wedding ring (it was also their 6 MONTH, MOOOONTH anniversary that month). Her 'new' ring was like 10 times bigger than the one he gave her when they got engaged. I seriously gagged. He set his standard high for v-day, AND for anniversaries!!! YIIIIKES. Did I make you laugh? Because Ryan and I STILL bring it up just to laugh. Some people ;-)
