After weighing all of the options, we decided to go with CBRS (which is basically a combination of different therapies, including speech) twice a week. It seemed like a well-rounded approach, since he seems to be equally behind in several areas. Then we talked to the CBRS coordinator, and crazy enough, turns out she lives on our street! She knew exactly who we were (the ones that walk around the neighborhood a lot with a little red wagon). Anyway, even though it'd take some business away from them, she gave us her honest opinion and thinks Noah would benefit more with one session of CBRS and one Speech Therapy per week. Not only that, she worked it out to where we're not going to have to pay as much as we originally thought. God's favor, y'all. I've been doing a lot of praying over our finances lately, which always leaves me waiting and expecting God to move. The fact that we're able to miraculously afford this? All glory goes to Him.
- Last year, I got a subscription to Martha Stewart's magazine. It's a great magazine, full of all kinds of useful tips. However, it's turned out to be a big waste of my time (and money). It's not one of the cheaper magazines to get. The recipes are mostly ones I'm pretty certain I'll never make. And the crafts?? Cute. But my wallet isn't big enough to run out and buy all of the supplies at any given moment. So sorry, Martha. I think we're going to have to part ways now. It's not you; it's me.
- Brad is convinced he's come up with this incredibly genius diet plan for himself. He calls it "leanatarianism". He describes it as eating a lot of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and occasionally eating lean mean (and the occasional sweet treat). *insert blank stare here*
I tried explaining that this is just how you're supposed to eat in general. It's called "eating healthy". But I don't want to rain on his parade too much, so if it helps for him to think he's a nutritional genius? Okay, great.
- I like to randomly type in words in the Pinterest search box. Words like "wow", "whoa...", "get organized", "uh oh", "yikes", and "Ha". The results never fail me.
- Noah's sleep schedule has been a PAIN in my tush the last few days. Naps are random (if he takes one). He'll act sleepy, then refuse to go down. He'll wake up in the middle of the night for random reasons... wet, hungry, etc... and stay up for 2 hours (doesn't matter if I put him back to bed or not; he still stays awake). Some nights, he's out by 8:30. Others? Midnight. We've had a fairly consistent schedule lately, so I'm honestly not sure what's going on. I think it may be a growth spurt (he's too old for the teething excuse, so "growth spurt" seems to be the next obvious choice). Honestly, though, he wakes up and eats like a feast (and yes, we feed him enough dinner and snacks before bed). This isn't the first time he's done this. While he's always been a great sleeper, he's never wanted to sleep at normal times. Every kid has their own "issues". Mine just has to have sleep issues. I blame his dad. That whole family has nocturnal tendencies.
- I took Noah to Discovery Place Kids a couple of weeks ago. Every time we go, he finds something else to focus on. This time, it was a submarine (it's in this dark room that they made to look like you're under the ocean... VERY cool). He played with the switches and lights and pretended to drive. So cute. It's no secret that we haven't really had much luck with pretend play yet. However, we had a break through this time. I got him to pretend shop at the play grocery store. I showed him what to do, and he pushed that little cart around like it was his job. Except he kept parking it in an aisle and leaving it to grab more apples, then come back. Not at all indicative of how I shop, I'm sure...
Brad has the day off today and has taken over all parental responsibilities for the day.
Right now, they're at the new neighborhood playground, while I have a rare moment of having the house ALL to myself. Which means I'm now getting off the internet, cranking up some music, and getting my incredibly unorganized house in some sort of liveable state.
Have a great day!

So great to hear about the therapist. I'm not sure if I told you about my cousins son, but he was definitely behind in a lot of areas, and they got him in speech and something else therapy, and now he is 5 and thriving. My mom saw him last month while in utah, and she said you could never even tell he was ever behind. So there you go! I think some kids just need a boost in certain areas and I know Noah is going to thrive with the therapist! Stay positive too! Celebrate every little progres he's making.
I wishhhh so badly we had a discovery place here. I looove that place! Brin loves the grocery store too. She goes round and round in there. We'll take here when we're there after Christmas. I'm curious to see her reaction now being over 2 and more aware of all the fun things instead of having serious stimulus overload!
I love this post. You made me laugh. Like how Brad's eating plan is simply eating healthy!! And Noah is taking that shopping so seriously! lol
Noah is certainly focused on the shopping! Adorable. I'm also so thankful for y'all that the therapy you've picked is affordable. Whew! Husband diets are the stuff that entire comic strips are made of. Mine will go on a "diet" but then I find my emergency chocolate gone gone gone. And the wrappers next to the couch with dirty socks. :) Men!
You are going to love the therapies. I did EI for a while and just loved it. I can't wait to hear about his progress. :)
