As I'm sure you've heard, there's a HEATWAVE affecting the South right now. It's miserably hot and humid. Like, don't-bother-doing-your-hair-because-it'll-end-up-looking-like-crap-anyway type humid. The heat is so gross, in fact, that it's impossible to get cool, other than trying to stuff yourself into the freezer... and I have too much ice cream in there, so I won't fit. Ha, just kidding. Kinda.
Our poor A/C has had some trouble keeping up. We keep it at 72, which is still warmer than I'm used to. My mom keeps hers at 68. So yeah, we don't do heat. Our thermostat read 78 yesterday. At 7pm, it read 80. Granted, I cooked dinner, so I'm sure the oven didn't help. But honestly, that's just awful. Poor little Noah gets flushed very easily. His skin turns pink, and people ask me if he's been in the sun too much. Honestly, do we look like a family that goes in the sun? I'm on the verge of getting mistaken for being albino. At the beach, we're the weirdos with clothes on, sitting underneath a huge canopy, wearing SPF 5000. No, my son does not have a sunburn.
So poor little Noah gets hot. And while I can stand to sweat a little... hey, easy weight loss... I don't want my baby being miserable for it.
So how do we deal with the gross heat?
Go Nakey!!
Since we're weaning him right now, I've introduced the sippy cup. He mostly just chews on the spout and plays with it. He likes to shake it up and down and hear the water slosh around. He hasn't quite figured out what its purpose is.
This, however, he gets...
Yep, he actually drinks the water.

LOL spf 5000, hmmm... Such a cute pic in the pool!! Using the oven definitely contributed to the 80 degree reading. In the summer time when it was this hot my mom used to refuse to turn on the oven. She would use her electric skillet, the crockpot, the stove, whatever it took to not turn on the oven. She wouldn't even let me bake but honestly baking in this type of heat is miserable and there are times when the cookies won't turn out the way you want anyways!!
He is sooo cute!
Ya, my parents keep this house wayyyyy too warm. Shoot me!!
brin definitely doesn't get the sippy but she LOVES cups.
I adjusted my thermostat about 30 minutes before reading your post :-). I keep it at the same setting all summer, but today the house wasn't cooling off. It is finally feeling better in here now that the sun is going down. We've barely started the summer -- what's it going to be like in the dog days of summer?
